What is an SR-22 and why would I need it?

The Kansas Department of Revenue Driver Control Division requires individuals who have suspended driver's licenses, multiple unpaid tickets, accidents, and those who have been caught driving with out insurance or under the influence to purchase and maintain liability auto insurance.

Driver Control will monitor these individuals with an SR-22.  This form is an attachment to your personal automobile liability insurance policy that must stay on file for (usually) a period of one year with no lapses in coverage.   This means the insurance must be paid on time (NO LATE PAYMENTS)!  If a lapse in coverage is detected the individual may be required to repeat another year of SR-22 filing with possible reinstatement fees.  Each time your insurance lapses you are at risk for having your driver's license suspended again and again.

One easy way to maintain your insurance is to make sure it's paid on time; we recommend using an EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) option with your insurance policy.  An EFT is when the insurance company automatically deducts your insurance payment from your checking account each month on the due date.  This will ensure no late payments!

To sign up for an EFT please contact one of our agents.
